Rooms 2, 3 and 4 set up their displays from Vietnam, South Korea and Mongolia for other classes to see. The day was very successful. There were lots of positive comments from the classes and adults who came to have a look at the displays. Here are some photos from Room 's display about South Korea.
Today we unpacked a box of interesting items from Amy in Korea. They will be used for our class display (and we have eaten some already).
In Room 3 we are doing a topic on heat on the move.Taine and Stanley were testing out what happens to air when it is heated so to do this we got a wine bottle and got a balloon and put it in hot water. When we put it in after about 20 seconds the balloon starts to rise. It was so much fun and it was so cool .From Stanley and Taine
For our topic ''heat on the move'' we did an experiment relating to our question which is 'How does salt affect the temperature of objects and how does it do it?' in our experiment we made some ice cubes and Phoebe brought salt. Then we put salt on one ice cube and we left one without any salt and we watched the effect. The surface of the one with the salt began to feel rough and grainy and the ice melted faster. We did another experiment where we put a group of ice cubes together and we put lots of salt on them. We found that the group of ice cubes melted faster than the single one and that the salt felt as if it had frozen. Also the cubes lightly stuck togeather. We found out heaps and next we are going to find out how the salt changes the ice.
Room 3 are setting up an investigation to find out which materials are effective insulators. Here are the groups preparing the materials for the investigation. The three Room3 boys that got picked for the Buller under 52 kg rugby team showing off their beanies that Mrs Knowles knitted for us to take on the tournement in Blenem. Thanks Mrs Knowles. We love the beanies that you hand made for us. We really appreciate you makeing them.-Zinny,- Stanley and Taine :).
Roman came in on Friday to visit our class. We were doing maths when he came in. Roman had to do maths with us.He did well with his maths.Everyone was excited to see Roman and he was really excited to see all of the people in the class. Thanks Roman for coming to see Room 3
Rooms 2 and 3 children wrote some information about themselves to create memories for the future. When the wall panels in the corridor were removed we found "Class of 1998" information about the Room 2 class of that year so we decided to put our own "Class of 2014" behind the new panels. Zinny and Helen were chosen to put the envelopes behind the wall. (Thanks to the builders for letting us do this!)
Room 3 tried to write a group story based on our topic "Heat". Each group had a long piece of paper and tried to combine their ideas into an interesting piece of writing. Yu can see the results in our classroom. On Wednesday the 14th of May St Canices had their school Cross Country. This event took place at Victoria Square, as it usally does, but there was a change! We had a different track and the senior school gathered around the centre of the square cheering on the junior school. Everyone enjoyed this years Cross Country and are willing to do it again. |
